What To Do In Case Of An Accident

  1. Stop your vehicle if it is clear, safe and legal.
  2. Make sure your engine is turned off.
  3. Make a first aid check of all persons involved in the accident.
  4. Get help - Call 911 and, if necessary, emergency medical services.
  5. Mark the scene of the accident with flares or reflective triangles.
  6. Identify the other involved. It is important to get the drivers name, address, registered owners name, vehicle identification number, license number, insurance company and policy number of the vehicle involved.
  7. See if anyone witnessed the accident. Make sure you have police get the statements from the witness.
  8. Don't debate the accident. Don't discuss the circumstances or responsibility with others involved or anyone except the police or representative of your insurance company.
  9. Limit yourself to statements of fact only and to the police only.
  10. Be sure you get all information detailed on the accident report. These details are important and too easily forgotten.
  11. Do not sign any statements or reports except those required by law.
  12. If after hours find out where your vehicle is being towed.
  13. During business hours have vehicle towed directly to our facility.
  14.  Get a copy of the police report of the accident from the local police department.
